FIKA Espresso Bar

In Sweden, the word "fika" refers to the traditional twice-daily coffee break. The appropriately named FIKA Espresso Bar, now open at 303 Park Avenue South, between 23rd and 24th Streets, is the second unit in the Flatiron district with another location just north on Park Avenue South near 28th Street.

FIKA offers coffee, chocolates, home-baked pastries, sandwiches with such Scandinavian specialties such as Swedish meatballs and gravlax, and salads with lingonberries. Their coffee beans are imported from the Swedish roastery Löfbergs Lila, which was founded in 1906. The store is open Mondays through Saturdays 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sundays 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
